  • Arizona Ash
    ARIZONA ASH Mature height up to 80 feet, growth rate moderate, longevity excellent, water requirements moderate, alkali tolerance low-moderate, elevation range 4500 - 9000. This is a large, native conifer. It has a pyramidal shape when young and becomes conical with age. The tree grows best on well-drained soils. Pests: bark beetle, twig beetle, sawflies & dwarf mistletoe. Suggested Uses: windbreaks and reforestation.
  • Blue Mist Spirea
    BLUE MIST SPIREA Deciduous shrub which mounds three feet high and up to four feet wide, aromatic narrow gray-green leaves with attractive small blue flower clusters midsummer. Cut back in spring to keep shape. Full sun, drought tolerant. Good shrub for colorful, ornamental xeric plantings.
  • Cherry Sage
    CHERRY SAGE Evergreen shrub three to four feet tall, bright green leaves, very aromatic, bright red flowers all summer that hummingbirds love. This plant needs a very warm place to grow, in cold winter tips will die back. Full sun, periodic deep water, any well drained soil, once established, fertilize every two to three years. Good shrub for colorful, ornamental xeric plantings.
  • Cottonless Cottonwood
    COTTONLESS COTTONWOOD The largest and fastest growing tree in New Mexico. Growth is upright and narrow when young; branches spread to form a large open crown with age. Crown Height is 50 to 100 feet and crown width is 40 to 75 feet. The root System is shallow and wide-spreading. Requires moderate to high water, tolerates drought on upland sites with high water table. Good for conservation/windbreaks.

    PONDEROSA PINE Mature height up to 80 feet, growth rate moderate, longevity excellent, water requirements moderate, alkali tolerance low-moderate, elevation range 4500 - 9000.   • Russian Sage
    RUSSIAN SAGE An aromatic, open deciduous shrub which grows to three feet in height. It is an attractive plant with tiny, purple-blue, tubular flowers, gray-green leaves and square, silvery-gray stems that produces an airy cloud of color late in the summer. Planted in full sun and well-drained soil, water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Once established, very drought tolerate and easy to grow, with no disease or insect problems. Good shrub for colorful, ornamental xeric plantings.
  • Three Leaf Sumac
    THREE LEAF SUMAC Deciduous shrub with clumping low habit, plant in full sun, any soil type, drought tolerant. This native, moderate to rapid grower has an elevation range of 4,500 to 8,000 feet. With brilliant orange to red fall foliage, it attains a height of 4-6 feet with a crown spread of up to 8 feet. Best uses are for windbreaks, wildlife plantings (excellent for many birds) and erosion control. Drought resistance is excellent and no serious pest problems. Cold hardiness and alkaline tolerance is excellent.

Tree Descriptions

AMERICAN PLUM (Prunus Americana) Maximum Height 12’. Low water needs (xeric), full to part sun. Very fragrant 1” white flowers open before the leaves emerge. 1” yellow to red fruit ripens in August and can be used for jams or jellies. Will tolerate dry alkaline soils.

AUSTRIAN PINE (Pinus Nigra Austriaca) Height: up to 150'. Fast growing, widely planted species in landscaping, along roads, for dense windbreaks or screens and commercial Christmas tree plantations. Very adaptable to wind, cold, smog, salt and from heavy clay to sandy soils.

CHOKECHERRY (Prunus Virginiana) To 25', Zone 2. Racemes of white flowers, red to purple fruit good for jelly and syrup. Gives good display of autumn color. Drought and heat tolerant.

COMMON PURPLE LILAC (Syringa vulgaris) Maximum Height 10’. The Common Purple Lilac, is a deciduous shrub which is used as a hedge or as an individual accent plant. It has light purple flowers occurring in clusters amid the dark-green heart-shaped leaves. Very hardy shrub, which can withstand severely cold winters (-35 degrees C).

HONEYSUCKLE To 10', Zone 3. Neat appearing shrub for screens and windbreaks. Dependable and hardy. Pale pink buds open to profusion of white blooms. Shipment prohibited to Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

IMPERIAL CAROLINA POPLAR Maximum Height 70’. Poplar hybrid, maximum growth of six feet per year. May be planted as a hedge, screen, windbreak, or to line a road or drive.

WOODS ROSE To 5', Zone 3. Flowers light pink to deep red. Small leaves. In our opinion a more refined plant than Rosa rugosa. Native in northwestern states.
